San Francisco, CA., September 11, 2007 – BSI, Australia’s leading private business export development company in the USA has been congratulated by the prestigious AlwaysOn group for “expanding the global Silicon Valley to Australia” as it brings four of Australia’s most innovative clean tech companies to AlwaysOn Going Green this week at UC Davis Sacramento [September 10-12, 2007]
AlwaysOn VP and Director Noah Gellman said BSI had demonstrated its powerful reach into the core of innovative technologies from Australia. “This caliber of innovation is highly sought after by the AlwaysOn community of investors, and leading technology business partners,” he said.
He said BSI should be “congratulated for offering a powerful US business program for companies and expanding the global Silicon Valley to Australia”.
Managing General Partner – Americas David Brown, who was recently appointed to the role based in SanFrancisco, said he had spent the past 10 years picking winners for the US market and establishing them with funding and partners. He said he was particularly impressed with BSI’s significant pipeline of export ready companies with eyes on the US.
He said Australia was a real land of opportunity for clean and green tech. “Australia is ahead of the curve in this space with a long history of water and drought issues that has forced it develop smart tech solutions,” he said.
He said through the BSI network on the ground in Silicon Valley, they were able to offer attending BSI companies direct access to leaders in the clean tech and investment community to help drive their presences and success in the US.
The three day pre-conference preparation program developed by BSI includes a one on one presentation by AlwaysOn Founder [and former founder of RedHerring] Tony Perkins, and a private session with lead venture capital firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson whose successes include Skype and Hotmail. The four companies will also hear first hand from Valley-based Australian success stories about how they secured capital and established their companies in this highly competitive market.
The companies include:
- Terra Fuel Technologies has developed a revolutionary device that allows diesel engines to run on ethanol. www.terrafueltechnologies.com
- Fluorosolar Systems features the patented technology of DayRay Flexible Daylighting™, a flexible polymer light fiber structure that carry daylight to the inner core of a building.
- Alternative Fuels and Energy offers a novel technology solution that harnesses the power of the greenhouse effect to control heating and cooling in the home. www.alternativefuels.com.au
- Corky's has a patented technology that enables bulk drying, gasification and carbonisation for coal, biomass and municipal waste applications. www.corkys.net.au
“BSI’s award-winning success in Australia is well documented, and now we want to replicate this in the US - only on a much larger scale,” Brown said.
“Our mission is to drive hundreds of millions of dollars in US investment and deals for our Australian BSI Investor Forum companies and bring some of the best in Australian tech to American shores.
